At this point, I really needed to leave Colorado. It just kept sucking me back in. I love this place though and I couldn’t leave without hiking one of the canyons.
So I was up super early, and I set out on a 4-mile hike through one of the canyons. I had no idea what to expect. The woman in the office told me to go straight up the street and I would be able to hike, and that’s what I did.

Now up until this point I haven’t been a hiker… I now am. It was so cool. I literally was out in the wilderness. No people or buildings where I was at. Just me, the waterfalls, trees, bears, and mountain lions. Fortunately, I didn’t see the last two.

I met two women on the trail on the way back. The one woman told me that the year before she saw a yearling bear just off the trail. They also told me I should be more worried about mountain lions in that area. Apparently, they have a large population of them there. 3 had been sighted together the week before, its very rare to see mountain lions together too. I told them not to worry. I was armed with my air horn, firecrackers, and buck knife. Hahaha.
The hike was amazing. This is another must in your lifetime. They have category 5 white water rafting there, miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The scenery is incredible.

Finally, I was on my way out of Colorado and into Utah. The change of scenery is so drastic between Glenwood Canyon and Moab. It goes from the Rocky Mountains to the Desert.

I finally made it to Moab though. The rocks are incredible. I made it into the park for a few minutes, but I needed to find a place to camp before the sun went down. So I left to find a campsite.
