Day 7
Next day Mark and I went to Outdoor World. That store is nuts. They have so much crazy stuff in there. If you’ve never been to one….go. We went there because I was gonna try and buy a gun. Being that I’m gonna camping by myself and all. Unfortunately, they cant sell me one. So I had to settle for a fog horn instead. I’ll scare someone to death with that.
After Outdoor World we needed some downtime due to the long day before. That is when I had a stroke of Genius. BEACH CRUISIN’ BAR TOUR. Those four words have changed my life forever. It took Mark a little while to round up a sweet BMX bike. Around 4 o’clock we set out on the first ever Beach Cruisin’ Bar Tour of Denver. The rules are simple: 1 drink per place, then you move on.

I’m still working out the kinks on the rules, because that didn’t end up happening. But it was an amazing time. When I get back to Philly. I’m definitely putting together a serious BCBT.
So the bar tour was amazing. I got some stories about that, but the best one comes after the bar tour ended.
It started at Mark’s house, which is a good distance from downtown. So we hit a few bars in Cherry Creek first. Then a few bars on the way to downtown. Then a few bars in downtown. By the time we were done, we were far from Marks and it had gotten cold. So that plan was to take the light rail right back to Mark’s house. Well when we got back to the light rail, we couldn’t exactly figure out which train to get on. So we just rode back instead. Somewhere along the way Mark and I got split up. I remember taking a different turn than him, but I figured it wouldn’t matter. We could just meet up at the next intersection. What a major mistake this was. I ended up getting lost for about 45 minutes. It didn’t take me 45 minutes to get home, it just took me 45 minutes to find where I was going. Once I found my way, I still had about a 20 minutes ride back to his house. I got lost about 3 miles away from his place.
The fact that I actually made it back is amazing. Add the beach cruisin’ bar tour to the mix, I think it’s more like an act of god. It was freezing that night. I was honestly starting to get worried. Oh, I forgot to mention that Mark didn’t have his phone on him. So I couldn’t call anyone for directions.
Day 8
So the next day I woke up and it was off to Fort Collins again. This time for a Beach Cruisin’ Brew Tour! I mean seriously, when you stumble upon a genius idea, you gotta roll with it. Literally.
The beach cruisin’ brew tour ended up turning into a bar tour. We had some fatalities this time. I just had a feeling something was gonna happen in the beginning of this one. So my back tire went down, Mary Ella rode into a wall. That should have been a sign, because her bar tour was over soon after that. No worries though, she was a trooper and we kept on going.
I felt like death for about 90% of this bar tour. I hadn’t rested in like 5 days. It was starting to catch up with me. I caught my second wind right about the time when we started lighting the bar on fire. I kept telling Tyler I wanted to light something on fire on this bar tour, and he made it happen. We had these crazy shots with cinnamon or something. It was awesome; unfortunately no pictures came out of them.
Right after this is about when Tyler started yelling at this girl at the bar. To be fair she was yelling back at him. I honestly don’t even know what happened. All I know is I said something to them earlier about something, and they obviously had terrible personalities.
After that fiasco, it was on to the next one. Once we got back to the house, Juli thought she lost her dog that ended up in her roommates rooms. She was pretty upset, but all I could think about was D.P. Dough. Hahaha.
Day 9
Next Day it was time to roll out. I spent more time in Colorado than I planned, not that I planned anything. But I needed to go. First, I wanted to go to the Red Rocks.
It’s always been a dream of mine to see a concert there. Even though no one was playing that day, I still wanted to see it. The Red Rocks is freakin awesome. Now I really can’t wait to see a concert there. The Rocks are massive.
Instead of driving right up, I parked down the hill and hiked a small canyon up to the amphitheater. The area all around is extremely impressive.
They wouldn’t let me tour the actual amphitheater on that day because Self magazine was doing a photo shoot there. I hate you Self Magazine. Despite that little setback, it was still an awesome experience.
After that, I almost lost my marbles trying to get my oil changed, but I’ll leave that part out.
I started driving on Route 70. I was gonna drive all day to Moab, Utah. Route 70 is the breathtaking. I can’t begin to describe how amazing it is. Instead I have picture. Let me just say that the pictures do it no justice. If you do not drive this road from Denver to Moab in your life… You are a fool. Sorry but it’s just something that no person should miss.
Anyway, I didn’t even know it was coming when I hit Glenwood Canyon. Up until this point, that was the most beautiful place I’ve been in my life. I had to stop there.
I set up camp 10 feet from the Colorado River in between two massive canyons. It was absolutely gorgeous.
The only downfall is the freight trains right across the river. They woke me up just about every hour through the night. Oh and it is freezing at night. No joke, if you are camping in the fall there, be prepared.
